Een echte schnitzel is van rundvlees! Sinds een tip van een bevriende BBQ-fanaat zijn we helemaal verzot op onze zelfgemaakte schnitzels! We gebruiken magere runderlappen (deze worden ook veel als stoofvlees gebruikt). Half bevroren snijden we het vlees in dunne plakken. Hierna bewerk je het vlees met een vleeshamer of een vleesvermalser (gemakkelijk te verkrijgen via bijvoorbeeld BOL.com)
Voor het bereiden het je verder het volgende nodig: drie borden, een met bloem, een met geklutst ei en een met paneermeel. Verder heb je voldoende boter of olie en een grote pan nodig. Haal het vlees door de bloem, het geklutst ei en door de paneermeel. Bak het gepaneerde vlees vervolgens in boter of olie. Zorg voor voldoende ruimte tussen de schnitzels zodat het goed kan bruisen en het paneermeel ook een beetje los kan komen van het vlees. Ondanks dat het in veel boter wordt gebakken, mag de echte Wiener Schnitzel niet vet op het bord belanden.
